For over twenty years Mary Haglunds’s goal has been to make delicious, fresh comfort food that will feed you; body and soul. What goes in the grits? It’s still just water, grits, butter, salt & pepper. Why are they SO good? Because they’re stone-ground grits from a local mill, with unsalted butter, kosher salt and coarsely ground black pepper. Sure, these things are a bit more expensive than instant bleached grits, cheap butter (salt covers up the impurities), and standard salt & pepper; but that wouldn’t be the quality meal Mary wants to serve you. This explanation, applies to the entire menu, of course. As a result, you won’t find any deep-fried items, soups out of a bag, canned fruit cocktail, or dressings out of a bottle. And even though you may think there can’t be THAT much difference between what you’ll get at Mary’s and what you may find elsewhere; your BODY will know the difference. Come to Breakfast of Course, and you may find yourself asking, "What did she PUT in this?!?"

This unique Greensboro restaurant is not to be missed! Cincy’s features genuine and deliciously conceived Cincinnati chili as it’s signature dish. Yes Weekly editor Brian Clarey describes Cincy’s and it’s chili this way:

"Minnie Crowder has prepared the house recipe each morning for the last ten years, using cinnamon and cloves as well as cayenne and chili powder to create levels of heat. She adds bittersweet chocolate for depth of flavor and some other secret ingredients that the owners will not name. Red kidney beans are prepared separately and added afterwards as an option. Other available toppings are cheese and raw onion and every variation is served -the five-way comes over spaghetti with beans and onion on top, then smothered with finely shredded white and yellow cheeses. Minnie also makes a small amount of vegetarian chili every week, a recipe that utilizes lentils and bulgur wheat for body and texture."

"The menu includes many noontime standards like sandwiches, salads and burgers but most of the regulars come here for chili, and nothing else will do."

Treat yourself to this delicious Greensboro tradition!

Fabian himself has moved on to other artistic endeavors, however the restaurant carries on in the same tradition as Bill Smith, Fabian’s successor and long time assistant, continues to craft the same signature dishes while harmoniously expressing his own creative ideas. Spring House Restaurant, Kitchen & Bar, opened in April 2012, is located in the former Bahnson House, a gracious 1920 former residence in downtown Winston-Salem that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Extensive and historically appropriate renovations have been made to preserve and re-invent one of the last remaining homes on what was commonly called "Winston-Salem’s Millionaire’s Row," describing downtown’s Fifth Street that was once lined with mansions of city leaders and industrialists during the early-to-mid 1900’s.

Mr. Lynn Murphy and his wife, Lynette Matthews-Murphy, purchased the historic building in December 2010, after it had been used for 30 years as offices by the Forsyth County Public Library. Lynette was named project manager for the building’s renovation, design and concept development. Her position as founder/partner will also incorporate event planning and marketing for Spring House.

The project is a creative collaboration with Executive Chef Timothy Grandinetti, who will share his 23 years of culinary expertise and restaurant management background as the founding Chef/Partner of Spring House Restaurant, Kitchen & Bar. Our shared vision and commitment is to create a progressive, Southern-inspired destination for dining, hospitality, and special events.

Chef Tim’s menus are created "in cadence with Mother Nature," and will feature honest and responsible New American cooking inspired by seasonal ingredients, fresh from the farm and market. The Library Bar will be a favorite gathering place for visitors and locals alike, with its focus on fresh artisanal cocktails, a well-edited wine list, and American craft-brewed beers.

Spring House Restaurant, Kitchen & Bar is an inviting full-service neighborhood restaurant, featuring a unique array of dining rooms and meeting spaces that promise to provide comfortable experiences for our guests. The expansive lawn surrounding the property is unique to the downtown area, and provides charming indoor/outdoor opportunities for memorable events and parties. Spring House Restaurant, Kitchen & Bar is fully ADA compliant, with easily accessible entrances and restrooms located on both the main and upper levels.

This well-loved Winston-Salem icon was started in 1969, and voted best overall restaurant in Winston-Salem by the readers of the Winston-Salem Journal in 2008.

The owners and employees of The Carriage House welcome you. Founded in 1969, The Carriage House quickly came to be known as a landmark in Winston-Salem. Due to commercial real estate development and the retirement of one of the original owners, The Carriage House closed its doors in June of 1996.

After a little time off, Chris Berry, an original owner, was ready to get back the restaurant business. Along with new partners, John Stabolitis and George Stabolitis, they searched for a site to open another restaurant. In January 1997, a location became available directly across the street from The Carriage House’s original location. As of September 1, 1997, that location became the new home of The Carriage House Restaurant.

In trying to keep with the traditions of the original Carriage House, the menu was left mainly unchanged. We have made some new additions recently but have kept the favorites around. It is a place that old memories are remembered and new ones are created by families and friends that dine with us.

Experience a French inspired Vietnamese Cuisine with a modern twist. A Vietnamese Cuisine that is twisted in many magnificent ways, from French inspired dishes to a wonderful ion of Sushi. Not many other restaurants have done this combination of foods and culture. This restaurant is unlike many other restaurants that most people are use to eating at. We have been reviewed by John Bachelor (Go Triad Restaurant Reviewer), and given a Three Star Rating. The Chef/Owner Kiet Nguyen is a very experienced chef of many places from a Sushi chef in Las Vegas to Florida and previous owner / founder of Kiha Of Japan in Greensboro, North Carolina. His creation of the dishes offered on the menu is inspired not only by French Cuisines, but also by childhood memories of his grandmother’s cooking back in Vietnam.
