The Loop, Greensboro Date of Meal: July, 2006 I had tried this restaurant lafter it first opened but wasn't thrilled. The service was poor and they couldn't get my order right. After the new owners took over, it's completely different. Service and food is great! My favorite is the walnut gorgonzola salad and my daughter is in love with their home made shakes. Great job! - Greensboro
Camel City Café Our supper club was celebrating two 40th birthday's and two wedding anniversaries and Camel City Cafe went the extra mile to ensure a wonderful evening - from the decorated table to the excellent service and food - we would definitely recommend Camel City and will be returning soon. Many thanks to Pam Howard for making our evening spectacular! -Karen Levstek
Date of Meal: 4/22/06 This place is terrific. Probablly one of the best place in Greensboro to get a beer. The bartenders and wait staff have great knowledge of inventory. The taps include Arcobrau, Natty Greene's Farmhouse and Double IPA, Duck Rabbit Milk Stout, Bridgeport IPA, Highland Tasgall Ale, Stella Artois, Red Oak, Blue Moon, and Yeungleung. It is really good to see a bar that care so much about local beer. I mean half of the taps in the place are devoted to North Carolina Brews. There are also over 50 bottles. Everytime I go I see new beers that have been added. Not to mention the food is the best of any bar in Greensboro. - Greensboro
Camel City Café Love the beautiful new location! This restaurant has become our staple in downtown Winston-Salem. The excellent service, outstanding wine selection and superb service make any meal divine. And the southern-inspired menu offers new surprises every time we go. -Molly
Liberty Oak have given Liberty Oak credit for being the restaurant that, more than any other, initiated and sustained Greensboro's quality restaurant initiative.
From a couple of hot plates in a wine and cheese shop, this establishment
grew into the foremost restaurant offering new American cuisine at casual prices in the area Liberty Oak has remained one of my personal favorites.
I go back to Liberty Oak because I consistently enjoy the food and especially the prices. There is nothing rote or uniform about the manner or appearance of
service personnel here. They simply impress me as being among the more knowledgeable that I encounter, in a sense that they have eaten the food here
and enjoy good wines. The restaurant's origins are reflected in the knowledge and value evident on the wine list. Twenty selections are offered by the glass,
and they are all good wines at reasonable prices. I am especially pleased when I see a list that provides quality choices in the lower ranges- the $20s or even below - and Liberty Oak does. -John Batchelor, Greensboro
Emerywood Fine Foods I have been to Emerywood Fine Foods on several different occasions and have found both their lunch menu and dinner entres delicious. I recommend if you go for dinner - seafood - or the almond crusted chicken. Their salads are huge and delicious - primarily because of their special house dressing - balsamic vinegrette.
A full bar has been added to the restaurant - so some of your pictures need to be updated - and I think the menu is different also. It is a great place - delicious food - try it for somthing different. They also make their own soups and every day - something different - and so good. -maryann tapper waller
River Birch Lodge My fifteen year old son surprised me with a birthday dinner at the River Birch Lodge. I have to say his restaurant selection was excellent. The service was very good and the menu contained an excellent selection of entrees. The Chef's selections for the evening were innovative yet not outlandish. The atmosphere was really warm and "lodgee" as you might expect. Our appetizers and entrees were excellent. Eddie's visit to our table sealed their committment to customer service.

Boba House a wonderful restaurant. Delightfully fresh and tasty asian cuisine, and a warm atmosphere. good food, great price. You don\'t even notice that its vegetarian. and the fruity drinks with tapioca pearls is a treat, i never thought i would find in greensboro. -aaron
1703 Restaurant My husband and I have been to this restaurant several times and I must say it is my favorite!! The atmosphere is so romantic and the food is absolutely wonderful!!. I had tried lobster in another restaurant before and hated it, but after having eaten it here, we order it with our meal every time. And the chocolate fondues.........well.........they are just heavenly. I never want to eat anywhere else!! -Tina
Bianca's This place cooks home-style Italian food. No fancy imitations. Just good family Italian food.
We are never dissappointed!! -Anna
Napoli Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria My family and I dined at Napoli last week and had a fabulous experience. The server was actually the wife of one of the owners, and was very knowledgable regarding the menu and accommodating about special orders. The owners are the chefs, and both are from Italy. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. We were blown away by the size of our meal portions, especially for the price, which was low anyway. The taste of the food was exquisite, the sauces are all homemade and taste every bit of it. We enjoyed feasting on the Eggplant Parmigiana ($7.99 with salad and bread), two HUGE slices of pizza ($1.20 per slice) and the seafood special of the evening. The tiramisu was homemade and beyond delicious. Everything was simply wonderful. I suggest that if you like Italian food, you give Napoli a try - it is some of the best Italian food I have ever had, and is certainly the best in Greensboro. -Teresa
My wife, Kym, and I were traveling from Lexington, Ky to Oriental, NC this past Wednesday for the Thanksgiving weekend and had the good fortune to spend the night in Greensboro. We had never been to Greensboro before so we decided to head downtown to check it out. I took a quick look at the yellow pages and noticed 223 South Elm. We decided to give it a try.
As you can imagine, it was very slow on Wednesday night and it was around 8:30 when we showed up. Our waiter, Kyle, informed us that the chef hoped to close soon but took his time explaining the dishes and some of his favorites. Based upon that we quickly ordered some wine and the Lobster, Mac and Cheese appetizer. What a great dish!!
Kym had the Lump Crab Cake for dinner and I had the NC Trout. They were both fantastic!! Kym is somewhat of a Crab Cake expert and she said it was the best she has had. My trout was incredible.
We've just recently been to Chicago and Savannah and the food at 223 was better than anything we had in either place. So to say the least it was a great way to start the Thanksgiving weekend!!
We'll be back!! -Rick Fromm
Hutch & Harris We had dinner at Bistro 420 on Saturday night. It was very good (although you had run out of the ravioli). I thought that the grits and shrimp were very good although, when my brother makes them he adds cayenne pepper and allows the grits to be runnier (less like polenta) ... nevertheless great dish. My mother (who is gluten intolerant) found the chicken and portobello mushrooms to be great. I only wish that I had more room for dessert (although those who chose to go straight to the dessert course really enjoyed that too). Great use of space (we were by the elevator) and most importantly really great service --- nice, friendly, helpful, attentive, patient, efficient, etc. -Joe, Greensboro
South by Southwest Last year, South by Southwest in Winston-Salem was recommended to me by a friend. Since then, I have traveled often to Winston-Salem-where else can you get authentic southwestern cuisine in
the Triad? I recently took some friends to celebrate a birthday-everyone loved it! We
had an exceptional time! -Mike, Greensboro
Cafe D'Arte was packed at 8:00 and we didn't have a reservation. The host directed us to the bar where we enjoyed a glass of wine. By 8:25 we were seated at a table for two upstairs. We
always ask for Shannon - she is fluent in Italian and always makes the perfect entree recommendations. I had the Vitello Marsala and my husband chose the seafood and pasta
special - both were prepared to perfection. We can't wait for warm weather so we can enjoy their outside patio! -Tracey, Winston-Salem
South by Southwest Whenever business takes me to Winston-Salem, I never miss a chance for dinner at South by
Southwest. The Marguaritas can\'t be beat and you never go wrong with the specials. Try
the "inspired" ice creams by Chef Burke. -Jonni, Washington, DC
Mary's of Course! Café Pleasant atmosphere, friendly service, but the thing about Mary's of Course! Cafe is the food.
It is so wonderful! The menu changes everyday with some continuing regular items. Soups,
sandwiches, salads, great desserts. Inside and outside seating. Sat. and Sun. brunch is
wonderful. -Nancy H., Winston-Salem, NC
Boba House My wife and I dined at this marvelous establishment near the UNC Greensboro campus on Tate Street. The food and service were excellent. The menu is an epicurean delight and the wine served matched the best we have had in the San Francisco Bay area. A modestly priced outstanding dining experience. -Mike M., Blacksburg, Virginia
